Established in the early 1980s as a volunteer group and formally recognised by the HSE in 1995, WCS joined the ADW Consortium in 2016 to expand its range of services.

Today, they support people of all ages who need care and assistance – combining professional expertise with a deep community ethos.

This 2025 accreditation celebrates WCS’s leadership, trustworthiness and dedication to dignified, person-focused care.

Reacting to the news, Andrea Wilson, Head of Marketing at WCS, said:

“This All-Star honour is a testament to every carer who arrives at a client’s door with warmth, expertise, and unwavering patience. Each team member carries our founding belief – that every person deserves to feel valued in their own home. We’re proud to continue this legacy of trust and human kindness.”

Announcing the accreditation, Kieran Ring, Deputy Chair of the AIBF Adjudication Board, said:

“Wicklow Community Services raises the bar for what community-based care can be. By embedding local care staff with clinical teams and tailoring support plans to each individual’s life story, they’ve turned home visits into moments of genuine connection. Their blend of empathy and professionalism ensures clients receive not just help – but companionship, respect, and restored dignity.”

Kapil Khanna, Managing Director of the AIBF, added: “What stands out about WCS is their holistic model: clinical best practice seamlessly woven into neighbourhood networks. Their years of HSE partnership and grassroots community-based support have created a service that families in Wicklow rely on not just for care, but for hope and confidence in the future.”

He said: “We evaluate a company’s background, trustworthiness and performance, and we speak to customers, employees and vendors. We also anonymously approach the company as a customer and report back on the experience. The business goes through at least two interviews and is scored on every part of the process against set metrics.”
