Each carer is Garda vetted and qualified, with training including QQI in Healthcare Support, Patient Handling, Dementia Awareness, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and more.

Andrea Wilson

Homecare Manager

Andrea has been Head of Service with Wicklow Community Services since December 2012. Prior to working in this role, she was Area Manager with Family Carers Ireland (formerly The Carers’ Association) for over 10 years. Andrea is currently a member of the voluntary body Dublin Community Mediators, and is an affiliated member of the Mediator’s Institute of Ireland. She has recently completed her study and Continuing Professional Development in elder mediation with Later Life Mediation, and is currently in the process of applying to be a member of EMIN.

Andrea is a graduate of T.C.D. where she gained a M.A. in Germanic Languages. She also has a postgraduate H.D.B.S. from Smurfit School of Business. She holds a practicing certificate in mediation from Catalyst Consulting with the renowned mediator Brendan Schutte, and in addition she has qualified with certificates in Data Protection, Management Development, and Building Capacity and Enhancing Leadership in Intercultural Understanding and Diversity from Carlow IT.

Maurice Mitchell

Acting Assistant Manager

Maurice has been with Wicklow Community Services since 2017, and is our Acting Assistant Manager. He has recently trained as a People Moving and Handling Instructor, and is partly responsible for the in-house training of the staff’s patient moving and handling qualifications.

Maurice completed an IOSH managing safely (risk assessor) with ASL, and uses this qualification on a daily basis when assessing clients’ needs. He is also a Fire Safety and Warden Instructor. He has gained a Fetac 5 QQI in Palliative Care. His previous educational background is in accounting, having gained a Fetac qualification in Accounts and Payroll.

Rachel Dowling

Financial Administrator

Rachel has been with Wicklow Community Services since March 2012. She is the longest serving member of the administrative team. She is responsible for the Company’s payroll administration, accounting, and financial reports for the Board of Directors.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons) Degree, and a Certificate in Payroll Qualified from ITB. She is also a First Aid Responder.

Caroline Besancon

Administrative Assistant

Caroline is responsible for general administration including the management and development of the Carer-roster updates, management of the office IT, the company Garda vetting, as well as assisting with scheduling and recruitment.

She has been with the Company since 2018, having started through a work placement scheme. She holds a Certificate in Payroll Techniques from IPASS, a VDU DSE Assessors certificate and is a First Aid Responder.

Mary McCoy

Mary McCoy

Care-roster scheduler

Mary has recently been employed in 2023 as a care-roster scheduler, and has come through a work placement scheme. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Fetac 5 in Community Care and a Fetac 6 in Special Needs Teaching.

She manages the rota schedules and works with the on-call team to support our care-staff and clients.

Helena Garvey

Care worker administrator and risk assessor

Helena has worked as a care worker administrator and a risk assessor since 2018. She holds a Fetac 5 in care assistance, a Fetac 5 in special needs assistance, and is a First Aid Responder. She completed her IOSH risk assessment with ASL Safety and Training Limited in 2018.

Helena carries out environmental health assessments and needs assessments as the initial stages in our service delivery set-up. She also completes National Carer Competency Assessments as part of our tender requirements along with supervisory management.

Shaunna Byrne

Care roster scheduler and administrator

Shaunna has joined the organization in 2023, and has worked in the organization since 2021 through a work placement scheme. She co-manages rostering and scheduling as well as general administration.
She holds a QQI Level 5 in Psychology and Care Support, and a QQI Level 6 in Office Management and Administration. She is currently furthering her career by completing her QQI Level 6 in Human Resource Management.
Shaunna assists in the management of our on-call service supporting both our clients and carers in terms of assuring continuity of care.
